What You Need to Know
Here is further information to help you prepare for the event:
Aerialympics 2025-26 (Season 13) Rules and Regulations: Download Here
Because this is an Aerialympics Invitational, your team is required to abide by all Rules and Regulations within the Aerialympics packet, so please read the entire booklet thoroughly.
Here are some parts of the booklet that specifically address ensembles:
Ensembles
- Small ensembles are performances of 3-6 performers in the same act on 1 or more apparatus.
- Large ensembles are performances of 7-10 performers in the same act on a minimum of 3 apparatus.
- Production ensembles are performances of 11+ performers in the same act on a minimum of 4 apparatus.
- Small and large ensembles are divided into level 1 (lower) and level 2 (higher)
If more than half of the performers in an ensemble perform as a soloist in Novice, Intermediate 1, or Intermediate 2, your ensemble is Level 1
If half or more of the performers perform as a soloist in Advanced or All Star, your ensemble is Level 2 - Ensembles may not perform at LIVE Regional events, due to rigging constraints.
- Ensembles may perform In the Wild, including Local Invitationals, at the discretion of the host studio.
Performance Time
- Small Ensemble – 5:00
- Large Ensemble – 6:00
- Production Ensemble – 7:00
Floor Work
Ensembles are permitted 100% floorwork time for individual performers. Ensembles as a whole may must have at least one of their performers in an apparatus for all but 30 seconds of the performance. In other words, when watching an ensemble, judges will expect to see the entire ensemble doing floorwork together for no longer than 30 seconds total.
Judging Process for Ensembles
Ensembles will be considered as a whole, although featured performers may be weighted more heavily than “chorus” type performers when assigning points. Ensembles may contain performers of different levels and abilities. Judges will consider the effectiveness of the piece as a whole, rather than focusing on breaks in technique of individual performers. Judges may deduct 1 point per 5 seconds of floorwork time exceeded, up to 2 points total for the performance, after which the performance will be disqualified.
Qualifying for Nationals
Competitors competing LIVE, In the Wild, or at a Local Invitational can qualify for a LIVE invitation if they score the necessary points for an
invitation.
